About Edge & Stone
We're a small sharpening workshop based in Healing, North East Lincolnshire. No big machines, no conveyor belts. Just whetstones, a steady hand, and the belief that a good blade deserves proper care.
Edge & Stone began the way most good things do — with frustration. A drawer full of knives that wouldn't slice a tomato without squashing it. A local sharpener who'd shut up shop. The realisation that nobody nearby was doing the job properly.
So we learnt the old way. Japanese whetstones, the right angles, the patience it takes to bring a tired blade back to life. Not the grinding-wheel shortcut that takes too much steel and leaves too little edge — the slow, deliberate method that the blade-makers themselves use.
A knife isn't a disposable thing. It's a tool that should last decades — outliving kitchens, houses, sometimes the people who bought them. Our job is to keep that edge honest, so the knife does what you ask of it, every time you reach for it.
We work on every blade by hand. No exceptions. It takes longer, but it's the only way we know to do it right.
